VAMC Martinsburg 3A and 3B Unit Renovations

The renovation of the VAMC Martinsburg wings 3A and 3B exemplifies a forward-thinking approach to enhancing patient care through innovative design. The 3A project transformed 12,222 SF into a 25-bed Medical-Surgical Unit, featuring patient-centered enhancements like customizable lighting, temperature controls, and integrated patient lifts—all in full compliance with VA and industry SOPs. The 3B renovation spanned 18,618 SF, delivering a cutting-edge 10-bed ICU and 19-bed Medical-Surgical Unit, guided by Evidence-Based Design principles to foster healing and optimize care delivery. Both projects modernized MEP and fire protection systems, achieved FGI compliance, and prioritized adaptability for future advancements.
NASIC District Cooling Plant

The District Cooling Plant (DCP) is a critical component of NASIC’s infrastructure modernization at Wright-Patterson Air Force Base. Designed by CMTA, the 19,000 SF facility was engineered to improve energy efficiency, achieving operation levels 40% below ASHRAE 90.1 standards. CMTA’s detailed analysis of the existing plant’s cooling load revealed an oversized system, allowing for precise sizing of the new chillers for maximum efficiency and resilience. Featuring four 675-ton Trane centrifugal chillers with N+1 redundancy, the DCP ensures uninterrupted operation for NASIC’s 24/7 mission-critical activities. Additional innovations like dry coolers, above-ground basins, and heat recovery systems minimize energy and water usage while supporting long-term campus expansion seamlessly.

Madigan Army Medical Center, one of the largest Army hospitals in the world, tasked CMTA with a mission-critical project to replace emergency electrical gear without disrupting operations. Through meticulous planning and creative design, our team delivered a seamless solution. By metering all 32 transfer switches and conducting a comprehensive arc flash study, we ensured enhanced system reliability. To support future expansion, we relocated a 40,000-gallon underground fuel storage tank and designed a new fuel system with 14 days of on-site storage. A carefully sequenced construction plan, including a strategic bump-out addition for new generators, enabled continuous operation, ensuring the facility remained fully functional and supported with emergency power at every step.

Lexington VA Medical Center Critical Infrastructure & Campus-Wide Lighting Modernization

Our team served as the Prime Contractor for a critical infrastructure and campus-wide lighting modernization project at the Lexington VA Medical Center. Operating within an active healthcare campus, we expertly coordinated with hospital staff to ensure uninterrupted patient care while executing complex upgrades across some of the hospital's most sensitive and high-risk environments, including ICUs, ORs, and ERs. By adhering to stringent ICRA, ILSM, and VA regulations, we delivered high-quality improvements without disrupting clinical operations or patient care, showcasing exceptional expertise in healthcare construction and infrastructure modernization.
